Paddington Basin development to be acquired by Bahrain investor

An investment group from Bahrain is set to buy a £121 million mixed-use development in London's Paddington Basin.

Investment group, Meritas, is close to exchanging contracts with Westminster City Council for the sale of 'North Wharf Gardens', the former North Westminster Community School site, designed by Sir Terry Farrell and Partners.

The 710,000 square foot redevelopment was granted planning permission for a mixed-use redevelopment in July, with scope to build 434 homes, 135,000 square foot of office and shops. The development  will include five blocks, between 11 and 17 storeys high. It has been reported that Meritas is likely to submit new plans to increase the scale of the redevelopment.

The proposed acquisition will add to Meritas' growing portfolio in the area. The group already own Meritas Court in Bayswater, which includes 15 flats.
