Benson Elliot consults on 200-home Ealing scheme

Developer Benson Elliot held a public consultation last week on plans for the 200-home mixed-use redevelopment of the central part of The Broadway in Ealing, west London.

The proposals for 9-42 The Broadway include a series of new buildings ranging from four to eighteen storeys in height, containing up to 200 homes and around 20 shops. Around 80 of the new homes would be within an eighteen-storey residential tower adjacent to the proposed new Ealing Broadway Crossrail station to the north-east of the site.

Most of the remaining 120 homes would be within four buildings along the northern side of The Broadway, stepping down in height from east to west, from nine storeys to six storeys. The buildings would be arranged around two shared courtyards and include green planted roofs. A mix of private sale, private rent and affordable homes has been proposed.

Double-height shops have been proposed at street level along The Broadway. The plans for the south side of the street include a five-storey stone and brick corner building and three four-storey red brick 'pavilions' with homes within the upper two floors.

Benson Elliot plans to redevelop a passageway named Haven Place to provide a pedestrian route lined with shops, cafés and restaurants. Basement parking for 50 cars and spaces for 320 cycles have also been proposed.

According to the consultation documents, the developer intends to submit a planning application to Ealing Council later this year, with two years of work expected to commence in early 2017 should the plans be approved.
