Mortgage.com domain name sells for $1.8 million

Mortgage.com has joined the short list of domain names to sell for a seven figure sum. It belonged to a company of the same name which in October announced plans to wind down and sell its assets having failed to find a path to profitability. The name has been bought by ABN Amro Mortgage Group, a division of the Dutch bank.15 Dec 2000

According to the web site DomainMart.com, the following appear to be the highest prices known to be paid to date for domain names:
