The US Federal Aviation Administration has implemented new
security measures in response to Tuesday's terrorist attacks,
including restrictions on e-ticketing that will affect many US
travellers. An e-ticket and photo ID will no longer be enough for
travel.
Proof of a valid ticket will be required, at least for the time
being. Some airlines are allowing customers to present a printed
copy of an e-ticket purchase and check-ins at ticket desks may be
required. Previously, US travellers could present their driving
licence at the flight gate as evidence of an on-line purchase.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, the UK’s
National High-Tech Crime Unit has asked telephone companies and
ISPs to retain traffic data (as opposed to content data) for all
communications for the next month as part of the UK’s assistance in
the terrorist investigation.
