E-commerce Minister replaced in UK Government

OUT-LAW News, 30/05/2002

Stephen Timms has replaced Douglas Alexander as E-commerce Minister in the UK as a result of a Government reshuffle following the resignation of Transport Minister Stephen Byers.

Timms is MP for East Ham and the former Schools Minister. According to the biography on his web site, he does have a background in IT:

"After studying mathematics with a senior scholarship at Cambridge University, Stephen Timms worked for 15 years in the computing and telecommunications industry, first for Logica and then for Ovum. He managed Ovum's telecommunications reports business until his election."

Alexander, who was appointed as E-commerce Minister last year, has been moved to the Cabinet Office.
