Storage Computers loses UK patent suit

OUT-LAW News, 28/08/2002

Storage Computers, a New-Hampshire-based international provider of data storage delivery systems, has lost its patent infringement lawsuit against rival Hitachi. Storage filed the complaint earlier this year, alleging that Hitachi Data Systems infringed two patents held by its UK subsidiary.

The European patents covered computer hard disk error correction technology. However, in a decision issued on 21st August, a judge of the UK High Court in London found that neither patent was shown to be valid in the UK or infringed by Hitachi.

Storage said in a statement that it will decide whether there is a substantial basis for an appeal upon review of the full text of the court decision.
