OUT-LAW wins best legal web site award
Press release: 09/02/2004
Masons, the international law firm specialising in technology
and information law, has picked up the Best Legal Website award at
the RJ Cuthbert Associates' Scottish Legal Awards ceremony in
Glasgow, held on 6th February 2004. The firm runs the
internationally acclaimed OUT-LAW (www.out-law.com) website out of
its Glasgow office.
OUT-LAW is Masons' e-commerce support and information service.
Launched 2000, it now has more than 17,000 subscribers world-wide
and 4,500 pages of content. In addition to the OUT-LAW website
which offers free information and checklists to help businesses, it
also produces a quarterly magazine and a weekly e-mail news
bulletin distributed to more than 10,000 people. According to an
independent internet traffic monitor, OUT-LAW is the most visited
law firm website in the world. Its content is also syndicated to
Google News.
The idea behind OUT-LAW was to develop a service to share
Masons' IT knowledge and experience and to provide the practical
effect of the laws, rather than a regurgitation of legislation or
judicial commentary. Large suppliers and users of IT and e-commerce
services regularly use OUT-LAW to obtain legal information they
cannot get elsewhere.
Struan Robertson, OUT-LAW's site editor, commented:
"We are delighted to have received this award, which reflects
the endless amount of hard work put into OUT-LAW. It is now
recognised as one of the strongest legal brands on the internet. In
addition, this year we will be launching new on-line legal services
under the OUT-LAW brand, reflecting our continuous development of
OUT-LAW legal services aimed to inform businesses about how the law
applies to the different commercial opportunities raised by
technological advances."
