OUT-LAW Breakfast Seminars, Spring 2008
We are running the following FREE breakfast seminars in London,
Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Due to
anticipated demand, we offer two dates for each London seminar.
Find on this page:
Topic 1: Creative uses of IP – and how to stop them (May
2008)
How to book
From website-scraping to user-generated content, a
threat to one company's intellectual property is an opportunity to
another. Exploring the strengths and weaknesses of IP laws, we ask:
how should the rights-holder keep control in a Web 2.0 market? Our
lawyers present both sides of the story:
- Permitted uses of content and brands
- Controlling that use and protecting value
- Parody marketing: using a proposed new
law
The event lasts one hour. All delegates will receive a
comprehensive pack.

Topic 2: Marketing on the web: top legal tips (June 2008)
How to book
In the wake of the UK's first court ruling on sponsored
links, we explain the legal issues you need to know and the
practical steps you can take to promote your business and protect
your brand on the web. We cover:
- Search engine marketing and the law
- New rules on unfair commercial practices
- Widgets for Facebook and OpenSocial
This one-hour event will not cover the legal issues of
domain names, blogging and prize draws, all of which were addressed
in recent OUT-LAW seminars. All delegates will receive a
comprehensive pack.

Registration – and the serving of coffee and croissants – begins

this time if you want to make the most of the networking
opportunity). The seminars start at 8.30am.
They finish at 9.30am except in London where
