Eidos, the games company behind the Tomb Raider series, has
reported full-year operating losses of £26.8 million. This compares
with operating profits of £39.2 million the previous year.
The company blames the losses on increasing competition,
accounting for a 14% drop in sales.
Eidos said that although profitability would be affected in the
short term, the industry was expected to grow over the medium and
longer term.
The company has 10 PlayStation 2 titles in development and is
working with Microsoft and Nintendo to support their new consoles,
expected to be released in late 2001.
