Case study: William Hill
Pinsent Masons advises William Hill on major online gaming
contract
Pinsent Masons announced today that it has
closed a major software licensing and IT outsourcing renegotiation
for William Hill with gaming industry software provider WagerLogic
Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of CryptoLogic Inc. The
three year extension to the previous contract for the provision of
US dollar and pound sterling online casino and poker facilities
includes the launch of a new Spanish-language poker site and
addresses the implementation of the online gambling provisions of
the UK Gambling Act 2005.
William Hill and WagerLogic have been working
together for seven years. Pinsent Masons partner Susan Biddle
led the contract negotiations, working with William Hill's in-house
legal team and commercial directors, and with John Hagan of Harris
Hagan who advised William Hill on the regulatory aspects of the
arrangements.
Richard Watkinson of Pinsent Masons, who leads
the William Hill relationship, commented, “This new agreement is
innovative in its approach to handle changes to legislation and
regulatory regimes. We know that the UK Gambling Act will be
in force shortly, but the parties are not yet able to determine all
the specific consequences for the ongoing relationship between
William Hill and WagerLogic. The new contract has been
constructed to take this partnership to a new level globally, and
to ensure that both parties continue to work efficiently together
as outside circumstances change.”
