The Webby Awards is the leading international award honouring
excellence on the internet. OUT-LAW.COM is the only non-US website
to make the shortlist in the law category. It is the first time in
12 years of the Webby Awards that a law firm or legal information
website based outside the US has been shortlisted.
Presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts
and Sciences, the winners from almost 10,000 entries are chosen by
a 550-person judging academy whose members include internet
co-inventor Vinton Cerf, Simpsons' creator Matt Groening and movie
mogul Harvey Weinstein.
David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards,
said: "The Webby Awards honours the outstanding websites that are
setting the standards for the internet. OUT-LAW.COM's Webby Award
nomination is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of
its creators."
Launched in May 2000, Pinsent Masons' OUT-LAW.COM has become one
of the most popular law firm websites in the world. It offers more
than 8,000 pages of free legal information and is used by more than
150,000 people each month.
Struan Robertson, editor of OUT-LAW.COM and a technology lawyer
at Pinsent Masons, said: "We're thrilled to make the shortlist.
It's a great accolade for Pinsent Masons and it's even more
rewarding to learn that we're the only law site from outside the US
ever to get a nomination."
