ConnectU struggles to prove that Facebook stole its ideas The founder of Facebook stands accused of stealing the ideas and business plan of three men behind a rival social networking site. But a Boston judge yesterday told ConnectU's founders that they must produce more evidence to support its claims. 26/07/2007 http://www.out-law.com/page-8330 2. Contracts cannot be changed online without notice, rules US appeals court A company cannot change its contract with consumers simply by posting revised conditions on its website, a US appeals court has ruled. Government backs private copying but ignores compensation The Government will launch a public consultation this autumn on an exemption from copyright law for people who are moving music on to MP3 players. European Commission proposes pan-EU small company structure The European Commission wants to create a form of company across Europe to make cross-border business easier to conduct for small firms. Belgian ISP will appeal order to block file-sharing Belgian ISP Scarlet has appealed against a surprise court ruling forcing it to filter customers' traffic for unlawful file-sharing.
