Privacy watchdog the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has published a
draft of a new Code of Practice for companies that gather personal information
online. The Code seeks to guide them on how best to treat individuals'
information.

Scottish Government announces extension of FOI to private sector
The Scottish Government has plans to extend Freedom of Information (FOI)
legislation to private bodies who carry out some of the functions of public
bodies.

EU issues guidance on complex consumer protection laws
Social networking sites and blogs can be governed by the European Union's Unfair
Commercial Practices Directive, according to new guidance published by the
European Commission.

Consumer Advocate will get class action-style powers, says Government
The Government has published the details of the powers it will award to a
consumer champion to take class action-style lawsuits against companies on
behalf of large numbers of consumers.
