The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) will not reduce fines for competition law
breaches for companies just because they have compliance policies in place. The
consumer protection regulator said that such a policy is only sometimes worthy
of a discount.

Apple will block the release of user data from iPhone and iPad applications from
going to the operators of other large advertising networks. The device maker has
its own in-app ad network, iAds.

Irish organisations which lose the personal data of more than 100 people will
have to report the data security breach to the authorities, according to new
rules proposed by that country's privacy regulator.

Broadcaster BSkyB will be paid a total of £318 million to settle a dispute over
a contract that it entered into 10 years ago with IT supplier EDS. The amount
includes interim payments made to BSkyB of £270m that were ordered by the High
Court in February.

All new Government contracts will be made public from next month as part of the
Government's bid to increase transparency. Prime Minister David Cameron has
written to departments informing them of the change.
