EU will be expected to follow when regulating the building of superfast
broadband networks.

The European Commission should create a directly enforceable EU-wide copyright
law that could be used to bring copyright infringers to book, the European
Parliament has said. Current law is not closely harmonised enough, it said.

The US Senate heard proposals this week for a new law which would give US
authorities the right to block access by US internet users to websites accused
of copyright infringement, including sites based outside the US.

The European Commission is the right body to enforce EU competition law because,
unlike courts, it can take into account the effect of policy and enforcement on
markets, the Competition Commissioner has said.
