Location data should qualify as personal data, watchdogs say

Geolocation information on where a person has been should qualify as personal data and be protected by EU data protection laws, a European data protection group has said. It said that users should be asked to consent to every new use of the data.

The European Commission may establish standard terms and conditions for the use of cloud computing services. The proposal is contained in a consultation on cloud computing published by the Commission.

Court order specifically bars publication of information on Twitter and Facebook

A UK court has banned details of a court case being published on Twitter or Facebook. The order was made last week and is thought to be the first in the UK to include a reference to social networking sites in the terms of a publication ban.
