Worcester Housing proposes £12m estate redevelopment

Social housing landlord Worcester Community Housing (WCH) has announced its plans for a £12 million redevelopment of Dines Green housing estate in Worcester, with a £2m grant from the Homes and Communities Agency.

WCH is due to submit to submit a planning application to Worcester Council in the spring which include proposals to demolish 14 homes, a youth centre and church to make way for 53 new homes.

Under the proposed plans, the homes would be divided into 14 two-bed houses, ten three-bed houses, three two-bed bungalows and 26 two-bed flats. The development proposals also include a new youth centre and church.

"Our planned £12m investment is a real opportunity for change, for committed action and to improve the environment and the infrastructure at the heart of estate," said Stewart Mountfield, chief executive at WCH.

"Consultation on the plans has already started and we are looking forward to giving local residents the chance to play their part in the creation of a thriving and attractive new community,’ said Mountfield.

WCH has also received planning permission to deliver a £3m development on the site of the former Drakes Drum pub in Worcester, which would include 23 two bed flats, a garden area and 29 parking bays.
