Stanhope plans Soho House at BBC Television Centre

Developer Stanhope Plc has revealed plans to include a 47-bedroom Soho House private members club as part of its redevelopment of the BBC Television Centre in west London's White City.

The club will include a roof top with a swimming pool and associated restaurants. It will be designed and operated by Soho House.

The plans will be incorporated into a revised planning application to be submitted to Hammersmith and Fulham Council at the end of May. The Council resolved to grant planning permission for the original application in December last year.

The scheme at the 14 acre site includes office and studio space for the BBC as well as up to 1,000 new homes, offices, a hotel and public open space.

The revisions will also include improvements and enhancements to the wider scheme, including new office buildings and changing the use of some of the residential space to office use.

“Since we received planning permission at the end of last year we have been looking in more detail at how we can realise our vision for Television Centre as a vibrant heart to the wider White City district of London," said Stanhope Plc chief executive David Camp in a statement.

"For the first time in 50 years, the site will be opened up creating access through the site essential in enabling Television Centre to become the hub to the evolving district. Together with the BBC’s continuing presence on the site and the addition of Soho House, we believe that Television Centre will be a great place to live, work and visit,” Camp said.

Construction on the scheme is scheduled to start in April 2015.
