Taylor Wimpey plans mixed-use Battersea Park East scheme

Developer Taylor Wimpey has unveiled proposals for a 300-home mixed-use redevelopment of a 4.5 acre site at the corner of Battersea Park Road and Queenstown Road in London's SW11.

In addition to the new homes, the plans include a new school building for St Mary's Catholic Primary School as well as shops, offices and restaurants. Proposed public realm improvements include a new pedestrian connection between Battersea Park Station and Queenstown Road Station and a new public square "at the heart of the site".

The site is located at the western end of the Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea Opportunity Area, which has a vision for around 16,000 new homes and between 20,000 and 25,000 new jobs.

Taylor Wimpey said in a statement it expects to submit a planning application to Wandsworth Council in the next few months. Subject to grant of planning permission, construction is anticipated to start towards the end of 2014 and to complete by late 2017.
