Horsham District Council has published its community infrastructure levy (CIL) preliminary draft charging schedule (8-page / 300 KB PDF) for consultation, with proposed rates of up to £125 per square metre.

The Council has proposed to divide its administrative area into two charging zones for residential developments. It has set a draft rate of £50 per sq m to apply in the area immediately north of Horsham and a draft rate of £125 per sq m to apply across the rest of the district.

For retail, it has proposed a district-wide rate of £100 per sq m.

The consultation is open for comments until 27 June. The Council said it expects to consult on its draft charging schedule in October or November and for the schedule to be examined in January or February 2015.  It expects to adopt CIL in April 2015.
